So much for the power of positive thinking, in my case it was no match for the power of chemo's toxic chemicals. By Saturday afternoon the steroids had worn off, and a sort of fog was rolling in. Sunday morning I headed for the stuffed folder and all the information sheets.
So side effects listed and my experience:
• Mild nausea and vomiting – rare. HA! It was more like SEVERE and FREQUENT on Sunday and Monday
• Generalized achiness of muscles and joints that is not relieved with Tylenol or interferes with your activity level – check
• Extreme fatigue – yep, had that
• Diarrhea – check
• Metallic taste in mouth – yucky
The good news is that I've turned the corner and feel just fine this morning. I just couldn't resist sharing my pain with all my wonderful family and friends who have been so supportive. You know, if I can't whine now, when can I?
I do think that after future treatments, I'll be a little more aggressive in treating these days 3 and 4 unpleasantries by starting medications before the symptoms
My continued thanks to you all for staying with me through the ups and downs of cancer treatment. I expect to feel better each day now, and will be busy getting ready for our trip to Lake Owen in Cable, WI. We leave on Thursday, August 30, but I'll write again before we go.
